About Us

hi, We’re Mija

In Spanish, mi hija means my daughter.

We have all been raised by many mothers and many fathers - life-givers in the shape of mentors, teachers, friends, relatives, colleagues, or partners; sometimes even strangers.

We take the lessons they generously bestowed and we attempt to produce a rich life, we strive to be better, we envision ease and connection within ourselves and our communities.

We stay hungry and humble in our continuous learnings, eager to harvest the morsels that resonate, to carry with us each day.

  • After just one month at Mija, I've reduced my chronic pain to a point where I no longer rely on pain medication. Bikram yoga is now a vital part of my treatment plan, and it has genuinely given me hope to live a pain-free life.

ABOUT THE PRACTICE

The Original 26&2 Series, also know as Bikram Yoga, is a set yoga sequence that includes 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. This practice utilizes stretching and compression postures to not only strengthen and lengthen the body, but to also improve the function of the major systems in the body.

Experienced benefits include:

  • Increased Flexibility: The heat warms up your muscles, allowing for deeper stretches and improved range of motion.

  • Improved Cardiovascular Health: The heat can elevate your heart rate, similar to moderate-intensity cardio.

  • Strength Building: Many of the poses involve holding static positions, which can build strength and endurance.

  • Stress Reduction: The focus on deep breathing and mindfulness can help calm the mind and reduce stress levels.

  • Weight Management: While not a primary goal, the heat can increase calorie expenditure.

  • Improved Circulation: The heat may help improve blood flow and circulation.
